XiCrypt SecureMail Guard

Signature and encryption ? what for?

Emails as secure as letters

When writing a letter the letter paper and your personal signature prove that it was actually you who wrote it. When writing an email, basically anybody can write it on behalf of you or your business. The digital signature guarantees to you and to the recipient of the email that it was actually you who sent the email.

An email passes through several gateways on the internet on its way from sender to recipient. Anybody can simply trap, read and alter this information. The encryption software in XiCrypt SecureMail Guard guarantees the confidentiality of your data. You can define at an individual level that emails to certain recipients should be automatically signed and encrypted, while emails to others are sent in the normal way.

S/MIME and PGP: the standards for secure emails

The standards S/MIME and PGP are well established in the field of secure email traffic. S/MIME is primarily used in Asia and Europe for digital signatures, PGP mainly in the US. By integrating both standards it is possible to communicate securely all over the world with XiCrypt SecureMail Guard.

Digital signature to combat spam, phishing and fake mails.

Very often emails turn up that are not written by the assumed sender. Such fake mails can harm a company?s reputation and can have legal consequences. Even passwords and access codes are not always protected against malpractice. If you only send signed and encrypted emails the recipients can distinguish between emails that are sent from the actual sender and fake ones.

Encryption and antivirus/content filter

In order to apply antivirus and content filters effectively emails have to be decrypted before they are scanned for viruses or checked for content.
XiCrypt SecureMail Guard decrypts incoming emails before they are passed on to a filter for checking for viruses and content.
